Federation of Malaya 1948 – 1963

The Federation of comprised the nine states of Johore,  Kedah,  Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Selangor, Trengganu and the Settlements of Penang and Malacca – united as the Federation of . A few stamps were issued during this time. Some were inscribed with the English name of the federation, while some used the Malay version, Persekutuan Tanah Malayu. In 1957 the Malayan Federation became independent and its first prime minister. joined the Federation of Malaysia in 1963
