BMA


The British Military Administration of () was the interim administrator of post-World War II British between September 1945 and April 1946. It assument full judicial, legislative, executive and administrative powers throughout , with Lord Louis Mountbatten becoming the director of the military administration. Major-General Ralph Hone was assigned the position of Chief Civil Affairs Officier, responsible for the Peninsula, while other positions being filled by professional soldiers and former European civil servants who had joined the army during the war. Singapore was made the headquarters of the British Governor-General in Southeast asia. On 1 April 1946 the British Military Administration of was dissolved and was replaced by the Malayan Union. Singapore however was separated from the confederation and made a crown colony in its own right.
